Below is a short summary of lasers in our office and their applications. 	Acne scars/Chicken pox scar /Depressed scars
	Acne or chicken pox scars can be improved between 20-75% following laser therapy. Our office uses either the CO2/Erbium laser or a series of non ablative treatments . Each laser provides long-term improvement. In addition to lasers, acne/chicken pox scars can be treated with fillers or in combination with the laser. A consultation will determine the best treatment plan.
	Active Acne
	Active Acne can be treated using a 1450nm diode laser. It is utilized for active, persistent acne in patients that have failed conventional therapy or cannot tolerate topical and/or oral medications for acne. Patients can expect moderate to dramatic improvement following three-five treatments. Improvement may last months to years.
	Chronic Sun damage
	There are a variety of options to improve unwanted signs of sun damage such as wrinkles, broken blood vessels, freckles and dry rough skin. Several lasers are utilized in our office to treat sun damgae including ablative, non ablative, pulsed dye laser, Q switched YAG and diode lasers. In addition chemical peels, botox and Thermage or performed in our office. A consultation with Dr. Avram will establish the safest, most effective treatment plan for you.
	Spider Veins
	Unwanted small red and purple vessels on the legs can be reduced with several outpatient laser treatments. The laser is non invasive and is most effective for smaller vessels. For larger green vessels sclerotherapy is used. For patients with a combination of vessels both laser and sclerotherapy may be utilized for maximum improvement. A consultation with Dr. Avram will determine the best treatment plan for your unwanted leg veins.
	Hair Removal
	Unwanted brown or black hair for men and women can be permanently reduced following an average of 5-7 treatments in all skin types. It is a safe, highly effective machine with 95% of our patients receiving a clear (60-80%) permanent reduction of unwanted hair. Patients resume normal activities right after each laser treatment.
	Telangectasia(Broken blood vessels)
	One or two treatments are usually needed to dramatically reduce unwanted dilated vessels or persistent red blemishes. The pulsed dye laser and long pulsed yag lasers require no anesthesia, and the majority of patients resume regular work and social activities immediately after the procedure.
	Port wine Stain /A-V Malformation
	1- 2 % percent of all babies are born with a vascular malformation. Whether as babies or adults, pulsed lasers can help reduce these often unwanted lesions following several treatments. No anesthesia is required and normal activities can be resumed after the procedure.
	Hypertrophic scars(Red thickened scars)
	Following surgery or traumatic injury, red thickened scars may be a result. Three to four treatments with the pulsed dye laser will reduce the thickness of the scar and reduce the redness. In patients with associated itchiness in their scars, this laser may help improve this symptom as well. No anesthesia is required and normal activities are resumed after the procedure.
	Freckles/ Sun Spots
	The Q switched yag laser is highly effective in removing “brown spots” or “freckles” on the face, hands, arms or chest. One or two treatments will result in a dramatic improvement.
	Tattoos
	Unwanted tattoos can be removed with this laser. Improvement will depend on the color of the tattoo ink. A consultation will determine a reasonable expectation for your tattoo.
	Chronic sun damage / Acne scars
	The rapid pulsing of light revolutionized the use of both these lasers in the treatment of skin disorders. The carbon dioxide and erbium lasers are ablative lasers which means the top layers of the skin are removed with their use. This results in a post laser healing time of days to weeks depending on whether a limited region of the face is treated or the entire face. Improvement in wrinkles and acne scars are dramatic but patients must be willing to perform post laser wound care 1-2 weeks after laser surgery.
